Vigla Cami of Mytilene

(This cami) "Vigla Cami" was one of the most well built in the city of Mytilene. Today
it is preserved as the church of Saint Nikolas. It is situated in the north harbour
(Epano Skala) of Mytilene. With a great view, it was built after the earthquake of
1867. In 1927 it was converted into a church and the minare was demolished in 1929.
The cami was originally built with the red local stone of Mistegna (the same that
exists at Ayvalik).
